As a movie buff, I’ll let you in on a secret. “Hollywood is overrated.” There, I said it!
The same few actors in the main lead, twisted storyline, shaky camera moves, and subpar plotline. In fact, most of the time when I watch the movie, I can predict the ending already.
So, what do I watch for entertainment, you might ask?
Well, foreign show. I started with Korean dramas, then shifted to Chinese and Iranian movies, but currently, I like Spanish shows.
Maybe because I am a second-generation Mexican American who can understand Spanish and speak a little bit of broken Spanglish. However, even if you do not speak Spanish, this will not be a deal breaker at all.
Most of the content is available with dubbing on streaming platforms, while the rest of the content has a subtitles option. Most of us do not realize that we are watching Spanish content. Famous TV series like Narcos, El Chapo, Money Heist, and Elite are all Spanish content but earned global recognition.
Where to Watch Spanish Content?
Before jumping straight into what to watch, you might also be interested in knowing where to watch Spanish shows.
All the shows listed in this list are from Netflix. However, if you want to explore more, other online streaming sites also have fun movies and TV shows in Spanish. Apart from streaming sites, cable TV has a Spanish channel lineup that you can explore as well.
For instance, Spectrum offers cable TV service, where you can satisfy your hunger for Spanish content easily. If you want to know more about the number of Spanish channels available on their cable TV or you want to know about the price, you can also contact servicio al cliente Spectrum.
Top Spanish Movies to Watch This Weekend
As the biggest advocate for Spanish content and an avid viewer, here is a list of some of my favorite Spanish movies that you can stream this week.
- Society of the Snow
Release: 2023
Duration: 2hr 24m
Available on: Netflix
Genre: Adventure, biography, Thriller
Synopsis: The passengers of a crashed flight, in the middle of nowhere, have to make some serious decisions to survive.
Based on a true story, this movie is a Spine-tingling thriller that can test your nerves. This movie can give anyone a run for sanity. While the basic story is quite similar to Alive, I Am Alive: Surviving the Andes Plane Crash and Stranded, viewers can surely expect something extra from this version. With this movie, the viewer stays at the edge of the seat throughout mainly because of slow build-up with occasional twists and some questionable choices. If you are a medical student or you are an adventure enthusiast this is a perfect watch for you.
- Nowhere

If you like watching many survival shows, like me, then this movie is a sight for sore eyes. The movie starts with a pregnant mother being trapped in a violet storm only to end up in a serious situation that can endanger her life. With an impressive storyline, exceptional acting skills, and visuals that can make you question reality, this movie is a perfect pick for a family watch and sleepovers.
- God’s Crooked Lines
Release: 2022
Duration: 2hr 34m

When educated and intelligent people suffer from mental illness, what happens to their abilities? If you are also intrigued by this question, God’s Crooked Lines is a perfect watch for you. This Psychological thriller is slowly becoming one of the most sought-after and loved genres in the movies. While most psychological thrillers only focus on the mental health issues of the inmate and their life in the psychiatric unit, this movie focuses on the real impact of mental health issues on personality, skillset, and quality of life. From ambiguous circumstances to twisted situations, this movie keeps nails the viewer to the seat.

Yes, you are good at finance, your job, and handling complex coding tasks, but do you know how to stay afloat in the middle of a boundless ocean? What are you willing to do just to help your child survive for another day? Survival is a basic human instinct but will self-survival exceed the parental instinct? If you want to know more, you need to watch this movie. Complex, overbearing, and to some extent obnoxiously restless, this movie is a perfect watch for the days when you are depressed and have no will to live.
- The Occupant

Do you ever wonder what you will do if you are fired one day? Just like most people, I think maybe I’ll go broke with my limited series. In a similar situation, the protagonists in this movie had different ideas. The world comes crashing down for a successful businessman when he loses his job. Nevertheless, it doesn’t stop there as he loses his home and family as well. What piques his interest is a new tenant who moves into his new house but will the mystery unravel as he knows more or it is just a farce?
